HALF MARATHON AT-A-GLANCE

Race Course: The Half Marathon 13.1 mile course will follow the Full Marathon course for approximately 6 miles where it turns west at 44th Street NW. The course rejoins the Full Marathon course at Dressler Road and Fulton Drive. The start line is at the landmark Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton and the finish line is on the field at Fawcett Stadium where world famous champions play America's favorite game. The post-race festivities will take place on the Pro Football Hall of Fame grounds.
Registration: Online registration is now closed. You may register for all races in person at the Expo. There will be no race day registration for any event taking place on June 17, 2012.
Capacity: There are no caps or limits on the number of Half Marathon participants at this time.
Half Marathon Walking Division: You may register as a runner or walker in the Half Marathon; the walking division is on the honor system to walk the entire distance. Please note the minimum pace time of 18 minutes per mile for all Half Marathon participants. There are no awards for the walking division, but results will be posted separately on race results.
What You Get – Half Marathon: Nike technical short sleeve shirt; male shirts are anthracite (gray) and female shirts are pink. Goodie bag including gifts and samples. Commemorative finishers medal. Admission to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Pacing service. Gear bag check service. Food and refreshments at the Finish Line in Fawcett Stadium. Course Open Time & Minimum Pace Time: 4 hours; the course will close on a continuous pace of 18 minutes per mile; participants must maintain a minimum pace of 18 minutes per mile.
Minimum Age – Half Marathon: Participants must be at least 14 years of age on race day.
Registration and Packet Pick-Up: All participants must pick up their race packet, bib, goodie bag and shirt at the Aultman AultCare Canton Marathon Expo on Friday, June 15, 2012, 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., or on Saturday, June 16, 2012, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Canton Civic Center. You must present a photo ID. There will be no packet pick-up or registration on the day of the race. You may have someone else pick up for you at the Expo; download and complete the Alternate Bib Pick-Up Form. You may change races; download and complete the Race Change Form. There is a fee of $10 for race changes at the Expo.
If it is impossible for you to pick up your bib at the expo, we have extended the deadline for a Bib Mailing Request. Your bib and shirt will be mailed to the address you provide if you submit this form along with payment by 5:00PM on Friday, June 8th.
Pace Team: Pace teams led by experienced runners for a variety of times will be provided for the Half Marathon. Half Marathon pace times are: 1:45 goal finish time (8:01/mile), 1:55 goal finish time (8:58/mile), 2:00 goal finish time (9:10/mile), 2:10 goal finish time (9:55/mile), 2:20 goal finish time (10:42/mile), 2:30 goal finish time (11:27/mile), 3:00 goal finish time (13:44/mile), 4:00 goal finish time (18:00/mile). Water Stops - Sports Drink - Energy Gel: There will be water stops within every mile on all three courses and at the start line corral area near the bag check. There will be lemon-lime flavored Gatorade sports drink at every other mile starting at mile #1 on all three courses. There will be chocolate and vanilla GU energy gel on the half marathon near mile #7. GU will be available before the water stop. At the hydration stations, Gatorade will be at the first tables, water at tables after the sports drink.
Results: Race results will be posted online at CantonMarathon.com shortly after the race. The Repository will publish a results section in Monday's newspaper, the day after the race.
Awards: There will be plaques awarded to the top three overall male finishers and top three overall female finishers in the Half Marathon based on gun time. There will be a winner certificate and gift certificate from Second Sole awarded to the top male and top female finishers in the Half Marathon for the following age groups: 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-above. There are no cash awards for the Inaugural Canton Marathon. Awards will be mailed after the event. One award per finisher except special awards.
Special Awards: There will be special award plaques for the following categories in the Full, Half and 10K Races: Flag Football award for the youngest male and female finisher and Hall of Famer award for the oldest male and female finisher. Special awards will be mailed after the event.
Complimentary Race Entries: The Canton Marathon will award a limited number of complimentary entries for full marathon and half marathon runners based on a variety of criteria. Interested athletes may download the application and information here. Deadline to submit your information is Friday, May 25, 2012 for consideration.
Parking and Shuttle Bus Service: Parking will be available at designated parking lots in Canton with shuttle bus service to/from the start/finish line for the Half Marathon. If this is your first marathon experience, please be patient and understand that parking may be difficult. Plan to arrive at least 90 minutes before the start of your race to allow time for parking and shuttle or for walking to start line from the parking lots. The organizers have provided FREE parking at the Stark County Fairgrounds and VIP parking at McKinley High School and the Mercy Medical Surgery Deck. If you park on a street, you are responsible for obeying all local parking ordinances. Canton Marathon is not responsible for cars being ticketed or towed.
Charity Partners: When registering for an event, you will be presented with the option to designate one of the official Canton Marathon Charity Partner organizations to receive a percentage of your registration fee. Designating a charity does not change your cost. Canton Marathon voluntarily allocates a portion of your registration to your specified charity.
