DEFERRALS Offered to Full Marathon Participants: Because of the forecast for above-average temperatures on Sunday, the Canton Marathon is offering FULL MARATHON RUNNERS the option of deferring their entry for one year to the 2013 Canton Marathon OR the option of changing to the half marathon race at the Expo. Deferrals and race change from full to half must be processed at the Expo. There is a $10 fee for deferral to 2013 and fee is waived for change from the full to the half. Deferrals are not available for half, 10K and relay participants. Half, 10K and relay participants may change races or change relay team members at the Expo for a race change fee of $10.
Race Course: The Inaugural Full Marathon 26.2 mile course will run through Canton and Greater Stark County, crossing over I-77 on the Pro Football Hall of Fame Bridge. The start line is at the landmark Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton and the finish line is on the field at Fawcett Stadium where world famous champions play America's favorite game. The post-race festivities will take place on the Pro Football Hall of Fame grounds.
Certified Course: The full marathon is a USATF certified course and a Boston qualifier.
Registration: Online registration is now closed. You may register for races in person at the Expo. There will be no race day registration for any event taking place on June 17, 2012.
Capacity: There are no caps or limits on the number of Full Marathon participants at this time. The wheelchair division of the full marathon is now closed as of June 6, 2012.

Course Open Time & Minimum Pace Time: 7 hours; the course will close on a continuous pace of 16 minutes per mile; participants must maintain a minimum pace of 16 minutes per mile; the course will close promptly at 1:00 p.m.
Minimum Age – Full Marathon: Participants must be at least 16 years of age on race day.
Registration and Packet Pick-Up: All participants must pick up their race packet, bib, backpack, goodie bag and shirt at the Aultman AultCare Canton Marathon Expo on Friday, June 15, 2012, 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., or on Saturday, June 16, 2012, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Canton Civic Center. You must present a photo ID. There will be no packet pick-up or registration on the day of the race. You may have someone else pick up for you at the Expo; download and complete the Alternate Bib Pick-Up Form. You may change races; download and complete the Race Change Form. There is a fee of $10 for race changes at the Expo.
If it is impossible for you to pick up your bib at the expo, we have extended the deadline for a Bib Mailing Request. Your bib and shirt will be mailed to the address you provide if you submit this form along with payment by 5:00PM on Friday, June 8th.
Pace Team Service: Pace teams led by experienced runners for a variety of times will be provided for the Full Marathon. Pace times for the Full Marathon will be: 3:10 goal finish time (7:15/mile), 3:25 goal finish time (7:49/mile), 3:35 goal finish time (8:12/mile), 3:45 goal finish time (8:35/mile), 4:00 goal finish time (9:10/mile), 4:15 goal finish time (9:44/mile), 4:30 goal finish time (10:18/mile), 4:45 goal finish time (10:52/mile), 5:30 goal finish time (12:36/mile), 7:00 goal finish time(16:00/mile). Additional information about the Canton Marathon pace service is lonline at www.MarathonPacing.com. Please check in with the pace team group at the Expo and meet your pacers.
Water Stops - Sports Drink - Energy Gel: There will be water stops within every mile on all three courses and at the start line corral area near the bag check. There will be lemon-lime flavored Gatorade sports drink at every other mile starting at mile #1 on all three courses. There will be chocolate and vanilla GU energy gel on the full marathon course near mile #7 and mile #18. GU will be available before the water stops. At the hydration stations, Gatorade will be at the first tables, water at tables after the sports drink. There will be water and Gatorade available at the relay exchange locations near the first aid tents.
Results: Race results will be posted online at CantonMarathon.com shortly after the race. The Repository will publish a results section in Monday's newspaper, the day after the race.
Awards: There will be plaques awarded for the following top individual finishers in the Full Marathon based on gun time: top five overall males and top five overall females; top masters male and female finishers age 40-49; top grand masters male and female finishers age 50-69; top legend male and female finisher age 70 and over; top male and female wheelchair hand crank finishers; top male and female wheelchair pushrim finishers. There will be a winner certificate and gift certificate from Second Sole awarded to the top male and top female finishers in the following age groups: 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-above. There are no cash awards for the Inaugural Canton Marathon. A crystal bowl will be presented to the top male and top female winners at the finish line; all other awards will be mailed after the event. One award per finisher except special awards.
Special Awards: There will be special award plaques for the following categories in the Full, Half and 10K Races: Flag Football award for the youngest male and female finisher and Hall of Famer award for the oldest male and female finisher. There will be a Lineman award for the top male finisher 220 pounds or over in the Full Marathon and the Athena award for the top female finisher 175 pounds or over in the Full Marathon. To be eligible for the Lineman and Athena award, please show bib and weigh in at Expo registration area in the Aultman AultCare sponsor booth. There will also be an award for one male and one female finisher traveling from the farthest distance away to Canton for the full Marathon. Special awards will be mailed after the event.
Complimentary Race Entries: The Canton Marathon will award a limited number of complimentary entries for full marathon and half marathon runners based on a variety of criteria. Interested athletes may download the application and information here. Deadline to submit your information is Friday, May 25, 2012 for consideration.
Parking and Shuttle Bus Service: Parking will be available at designated parking lots in Canton with shuttle bus service to/from the start/finish line. If this is your first marathon experience, please be patient and understand that parking may be difficult. Plan to arrive at least 90 minutes before the start of your race to allow time for parking and shuttle or for walking to start line from the parking lots. The organizers have provided FREE parking at the Stark County Fairgrounds and VIP parking at McKinley High School and the Mercy Medical Surgery Deck. Charity Partners: When registering for an event, you will be presented with the option to designate one of the official Canton Marathon Charity Partner organizations to receive a percentage of your registration fee. Designating a charity does not change your cost. Canton Marathon voluntarily allocates a portion of your registration to your specified charity.
